--- title: 'Terms of service' description: 'The terms you agree to when you build, publish or pay for an invitation on Love Envelope.' source: 'https://envelope.love/terms' updated: '2026-08-14' --- # Terms of service. What we promise to do, what we ask of you, and what happens to your invitation at each point. Last updated 2026-08-14. This is the plain markdown copy of https://envelope.love/terms, published by Love Envelope for machine readers. The page itself carries the same words. ## What this is Love Envelope makes the invitation for an engagement, a marriage, a vow renewal or an anniversary. You choose a design, write your own words, and are handed one link to send to your guests, who open it and reply on it. Using the site means you accept what is written here. If you do not, the honest thing is not to publish. ## Your account An account is an email address. Signing in is a code sent to that address, so whoever can read that inbox can reach your invitations, your guest list and your replies. Keep the inbox to yourself. You are responsible for what is done from your account, and for making sure the address on it is one you still control. You must be old enough to enter a contract where you live. ## Free first, then one payment Building an invitation costs nothing. Publishing costs nothing and puts it live on its own link for 24 hours. After that the link goes quiet unless you pay $100 once, which keeps it online permanently. There is no subscription, no renewal and nothing to cancel. Payment is handled by our payment provider, and the refund position is set out in full on the refund policy page. - A free invitation may email its link to 5 guests, which is enough to send it to yourself and to whoever you trust - A paid invitation may email 1,000 - The link itself is unlimited either way. Any number of guests may open it, share it and reply on it ## When a link goes quiet When the free window ends on an invitation that has not been paid for, only the public link stops working. Your invitation, your words, your design, your guest list, your statistics and every reply your guests left are untouched and still yours to read and edit. Nothing is deleted for non payment, ever. Paying at any point afterwards puts the link straight back. ## Your words stay yours You keep every right in the words you write and the photograph you upload. We do not claim ownership of your invitation and we will not use it as an example anywhere without asking you first. You do give us the permission needed to actually run the thing: to store your invitation, to show it to anybody who opens its link, to draw the preview image that appears when the link is shared, and to include it in the emails you ask us to send. ## What you may not put on it An invitation is a page on the public internet with our name at the foot of it. So there are a few things it cannot carry. - Anything unlawful, or anything that harasses, threatens or defames somebody - Words, images or music that belong to somebody else and that you do not have permission to use - A photograph of a person who has not agreed to being on it - Anything pretending to be somebody else, or set up to mislead the people opening it - Anything that is not an invitation at all: advertising, a mailing list, a scheme, a store front ## Sending to your guests When you send your invitation by email, you are asking us to send it on your behalf, and it goes out with your names on it and your address to reply to. By pressing send you confirm the people on that list know you and would expect to hear from you about your day. Pasting in a bought or scraped list is a breach of these terms, and we will suspend an account that does it, because it puts every other couple who sends from here at risk of not arriving at all. ## What we promise, and what we cannot We will do our honest best to keep the site up, your invitation live and your replies safe, and to answer you when something goes wrong. We cannot promise that the service is never interrupted, that an email is never delayed or filtered by somebody else, or that every guest opens the link and replies. Some of that belongs to networks and inboxes that are not ours. Keep your own note of anything you cannot afford to lose, in the same way you would with any online service. ## Ending it You can take an invitation offline or delete it entirely whenever you like, from your own account. Deleting removes its replies, its guest list and its statistics with it, and cannot be undone. We may suspend or remove an invitation that breaks these terms, and where we can reasonably do so we will tell you why first. If we end the service altogether, we will give you notice and time to take your content with you. ## Liability Nothing here limits liability for anything that cannot be limited by law, including fraud, death and personal injury caused by negligence. Beyond that, our total liability for anything connected with this service is limited to what you have actually paid us for the invitation in question. We are not liable for losses that are not a reasonably foreseeable result of us getting something wrong. ## Changes to these terms These terms change occasionally, and the date at the top of this page changes with them. If a change materially affects an invitation you have already paid for, we will tell you. ## Getting in touch Anything at all about these terms, an invitation, a payment or an account comes to the same inbox, and a person reads it. --- Questions about any of this go to support@envelope.love.
